CALLA

Since a couple of years water filtration systems are part of the everyday. But if you take a closer look at current filtration systems, they are mostly made of plastics, in some way unmanageable – sometimes not nice to look at. Indeed they are sustainable in comparison to plastic bottles, but there is much more possible in this sector. By defining the biggest problem area - the filtration cartridges - Calla was designed.

So Calla describes a new concept of filtration systems by using sustainable and reusable materials and components. Furthermore Calla minimized the reluctance to display it when there are visitors.

What kind of material is now practical for such a sustainable concept? Is it glass, or rather crystal glass, or is it a material out of plastics like koziol?

Koziol seems to be a better alternative in manufacturing and durability and it is not necissarily distinguishable of glass. For better cleanliness the carafe lid is made of a biodegradable plastic. The most important changes resulted in the center of the carafe. The filtration cartridge case is now made out of an ultra-fine stainless steel screen that improves the filtration process. This procedure gets supported whithin using re-activatable activated carbon beads and an ultra fine fabric which is responsible for coarse particle filtration. With the new screw cap, the cartridge now supports reusability and refillability.
